Akali Dal Demands Dissolution of Delhi Commission for Women

Manjit Singh G.K. writes to Lt. Governor for registering criminal case against Kejriwal and Swati Maliwal

The President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh G.K. who is also President of Shiromani Akali Dal in Delhi today demanded dissolving Delhi Commission for Women and constituting a new body. He demanded this in a letter sent to LT. Governor Najeeb Jung, blaming Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal for forcing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker Soni to commit suicide.

Talking to reporters G.K. raised questions for not giving timely treatment to the victim in Delhi government run Raja Harishchander hospital in Narela. G.K. said Kejriwal who came to power by promising security and safety of women in Delhi is leading the team of his party workers who see women with bad intentions. DSGMC President also said that Kejriwal is anti-women because he suggested Soni to reach a compromise when she complained that she was exploited by party leaders and workers.

He also said that Kejriwal who used to talk hoarse after Nirbhaya incident, and when Bhawri Devi like incident has happened in state where he runs the government, G.K. questioned that will he give compensation of Rs. One crore to the Soni’s family and when will he dismiss the leaders of his party against whom Soni complained.Taking dig on Kejriwal G.K. said that he had time for Gujarat Dalits but no time to meet family of Soni who lives in Narela. He promised to give Rs. One lakh for education of Soni’s children and demanded that the investigation of the case be given to CBI and not SDM.

SAD Delhi President said that DCW is highly politicised as it kept sitting on the complaint lodged by Soni. “I fail to understand why the commission promptly took up case of former captain of hockey team Sardar Singh after a complaint lodged by his female companion when a case was already registered in Ludhiana. The commission has jurisdiction in Delhi but his political intentions touches as far as Punjab which is heading for assembly polls. I have told Lt. Governor that instead of taking care of the rights of women in Delhi, the chairperson prefers to expand her political intentions”, G.K.

G.K. also said that incase the victim was given timely treatment in the hospital she could have been saved but she was denied this right also under the pressure of AAP workers.
He appealed to the Lt. Governor to book Kejriwal and Swati Maliwal under section 306 of Indian penal code. He added that action by Delhi Commission for Women in a case related to Punjab was illegal and immoral.

SAD Secretary General in Delhi Harmeet Singh Kalka, Senior Akali leaders Avtar Singh Hit and Onkar Singh Thapar, DSGMC senior Vice President Mahinder Pal Singh Chadha, Vice President Satpal Singh, Joint Secretary Amarjeet Singh Fateh Nagar, Members Kulmohan Singh, Ravinder Singh Khurana, Harvinder Singh K.P, Harjinder Singh, Paramjit Singh Chandok, Chaman Singh, Hardev Singh Dhanoa, Dheeraj Kaur, Jeet Singh and SAD Spokesman Parminder Pal Singh and Jaswinder Singh Jolly were also present.

Letter to Sushma Swaraj : DSGMC

Shrimati Sushma Swaraj,
Hon’ble  Minister of External Affairs,
Government of India.
New Delhi, India.

Respected Madam,

This is in connection with your upcoming visit to Iran. We wish you all the best to take up bilateral issues that will further strengthen friendship and commercial relationships between India and Iranian Republic  of Iran. We wish to bring our humble submissions that could be taken up with your Iranian counter part.

It is unfortunate the demographics of vibrant Indian community are dwindling, However unfortunately due to various factors our community strength has come down tremendously as the new generation faces difficulties to  seek licensing for work and business opportunities and some families have left for good. Thererefore it is very important that a mechanism  requires to be created  that leads  to increase the demographics and  a presence of strong Indian community. A special status could be  considered for the Indian community  currently resident in Iran mainly comprising by your intervention it would be great support for them.

Few important issues are summarized for  your kind consideration:-

1.    Revival and Recognition of the Guru Nanak Charitable Trust. The Guru Nanak Charitable Trust belongs to the Indian community,  has control of all the properties and assets consisting of Prime Foundations like Indian School building and the Gurdwara Sahib building, its licences and survival need to restored so that the Indian assets are protected for the future Generations as envisaged by our ancestors and the elders.

2. Issuance /Renewal of Indian Passports.& Nomination of Nodal officer within Indian Community for Liaison with Indian community.

3.   Sikh Religion and the Sikhs in Iran.

 4.  Issuance of Waiver for obtaining Renewal of Work permits for current holders of work permit and waiver the Indian community members who have been resident over 10 years and their new Generation. The work permits  system mandates obtaining  a work permit issuance and renewal compulsory for having the right to work in Iran.

5.  Residence Permit status. The Residence Permit of Indian Nationals  needs to be issued for three year  instead of the current one year for those residents  in I.R of Iran This would allow them to have peace of mind to continue their business plan on basis of three years and retirements accordingly.

 6.    Property rights or Licence to buy Property. Each Indian family or their dependants who are resident in I.R of Iran more than 10 years need to be allowed and issued licence to own one house in their name, one office/shop and also be permitted to get industrial licence, land and contribute for the local economy and business growth like fellow Iranian brothers.

 7.    Inheritance and succession of estate and taxes and duties thereof after death of Indian National.

8.    Cremation procedures and requirement of waiver or Open Licence to Cremate Indian Nationals Non Muslims. Cremation Grounds at Tehran owned by the Embassy of India and maintained by Tehran,Gurudawara Sahib immediately waiver or Open licence  to be issued for cremation upon death of Indian National /Indian passport holder belonging to Hindu,Sikh ,Budhisim and Jain Religion who honourably need to be cremated as per Indian traditions.

There is need to create awareness to start a process and  seek approval of automatic cremation of Indian Nationals as per their religious rites specially for Hindu and Sikh Religion and a decree needs to be passed that they should not be subjected to follow procedure of burial and rather automatically be issued waiver for cremation as per their religious rites based upon the Letter of Embassy of India /Gurudawara Bhai Ganga Singh Singh Sabha Tehran so that the mortal remains of any deceased person are not subject to any delays for the last rites.

The Indian community in Iran aspires through benevolence of the Government of  India and  in coordination with the Embassy of India to take up the issues raised with the highest authorities  of the  I.R of Iran that are put on record and earlier petitions were submitted by Gurdwara Bhai Ganga Singh Singh Sabha which has also been taking up all the issues for the welfare of the Indian Community.

Long live friendship of India and Iran.  Looking forward to your positive support and immediate intervention.

With warm regards,

Yours faithfully,

(MANJIT SINGH G.K.)

PRESIDENT

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee contributes towards Campaign for Sikh Identity in USA

Manjit Singh G K, DSGMC President with Dr. Rajwant Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education and Senior Advisor to the Washington based National Sikh Campaign

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Manjit Singh GK announced a contribution of $10,000 towards an awareness campaign to educate Americans about Sikhism and Sikh Identity.

Manjit Singh GK, President  & Manjinder Singh Sirsa, General  Secy. of DSGMC, appeared with Dr. Rajwant Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education and Senior Advisor to the Washington based National Sikh Campaign, in New Delhi in a press meet and endorsed an American Sikh plan to reach out to millions of fellow Americans. This awareness initiative is being spearheaded by newly formed National Sikh Campaign (NSC) based in Washington. NSC has engaged AKPD, a high profile media consultancy founded by President Obama’s top political strategists David Axelrod and David Plouffe, which has managed Obama’s senate election and two presidential campaigns. APKD has submitted a plan to launch a presidential style nationwide media campaign on Sikhs.
Sikhs in the United States have faced numerous incidents of violence, discrimination and prejudice since 9/11 due to ignorance about Sikhism. A country- wide survey and polling was conducted by Hart Research Associates headed by Geoffrey Garrin, Hillary Clinton’s former top political strategist. The purpose of this most comprehensive study about Sikhs in America was to identify the problem of ignorance and confusion about Sikh identity and suggest remedies for them. The findings of this national research was released last month which concluded that 60% of Americans knew nothing about Sikhs and only 3% of them have interacted with Sikhs. Over 48% identified them as either Arabs or Muslims. 54% of the Americans were neutral towards Sikhs and 16% were cool. However, upon learning about the Sikhs, Americans warmed up to them across demographics. AKPD will prepare ads based on these findings and these ads will be vetted by experts before national media campaign is launched.
Manjit Singh GK said, “We feel that DSGMC has the moral responsibility to support such innovative strategies to fight ignorance and prejudice against Sikhs and to educate all non-Sikhs about Sikh religion and its traditions. We are satisfied with this approach and this will help in changing the perception of the Sikhs in USA.  We stand behind any plan to make our community strong in America.”
Dr. Rajwant Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education and Senior Advisor to the National Sikh Campaign, said, “We are grateful to DSGMC for this kind gesture and it sends a strong message to the entire American Sikh community that Sikhs in India care for them. This is the most significant step taken by the Sikh community in the United States and this kind of high level media campaign is critical for our community’s standing. There is no substitute for media strategy and it is imperative that all Sikhs join in this effort. We appeal to all Sikhs to contribute generously to make sure our coming generations do not face the negative environment.”
Gurwin Singh Ahuja, Co-Founder of NSC, said, “DSGMC’s support is big boost to this effort and we are highly encouraged by this contribution. We are confident that this campaign will produce the desired results for the community.”
